Case study

ACCENT, London

A series of three evening workshops for American University students living abroad for the first time. The programme was a forum for them to discuss their experiences and reactions to the UK in an informal environment yet within a structured format. It also offered support and suggestions for handling the challenges. The workshops were organised to coincide with different stages of their term at London University. They encompassed “Culture Shock”, “Communicating Across Barriers”, and “Reverse Shock”. The approach was creative and involved group drawing exercises, as well as a great deal of facilitated discussion.
